Is the library open to the public?
Krannert
Memorial Library is open to the public. You are welcome to use our books and
journals on the premises. As a service to the local community, the library also
extends limited borrowing privileges to residents of the Indianapolis metropolitan
area. Please note that the library’s media collection, online resources, and
Internet access are available only to enrolled UIndy students and current staff
and faculty.
Community Borrower’s Card Policies
Eligibility
- Resident
of the Indianapolis Metro Area, including the “doughnut” counties of Boone,
Hamilton, Madison, Hendricks, Hancock, Morgan, Johnson, and Shelby. Proof of identity and residency is required.
- Must
be 18 years or older
- May
NOT be a student at another academic institution
- Privileges
are good for 1 year and may be renewed
Borrowing
Materials
- Community
borrowers may have up to 5 books checked out at a time. (Journals may not be
checked out.)
- Checkout
period is 3 weeks and may be renewed.
- Books
can be renewed by calling the Circ Desk at 317-788-3268 or coming by the
library.
Fees
- Library
cards are free.
- Overdue
fines will be charged if books are not returned or renewed before 30 days after
the due date.
- After
30 days, the borrower is charged $50 for each overdue book ($40 for book
replacement and $10 for overdue fines and processing fees).
- If
books are returned before a replacement has been ordered, the replacement fee of
$40 per book will be deducted from the total, but the $10 overdue fees for each
book remain.
